of Sheffield; financial secretary, SHEFFIELD PHREN SOC, 1844; lectured on phrenology in the Midlands, the North, and Scotland, 1843-6; reputed to have introduced phreno-mesmerism into Scotland; his course of lectures on phreno-mesmerism in Newcastle in 1843 was attended by over 1,000 persons.
