grandson of John Haley Holm. (d. 1763), a moneyer of the Royal Mint, Sweden; born in Sweden, he moved to London in 1805 as a foreign merchant, from which he retired in 1817 to commence an amateur career in phrenology, having much earlier met GALL in Paris; became the friend and later the executor of SPURZHEIM; M PHREN ASSN; lectured every Thursday at his home in Gower St, 1828-32, and in Bedford Sq, 1832 to death; also lectured 1832-6 at Grainger's Theatre of Anatomy, Southwark Inst, London and Baltic Tavern, North London Inst, Eastern Athenaeum, Gothic Hall, Inst of Useful Knowledge, and Milltown Inst; lectured at the South London Owenite Hall of Science, 1843.
