Jevons (1835-82); first son of Thomas Jevons who married into the Liverpool political and banking family of Roscoe; wrote Moral Philosophy (1827) and on astronomy; educator, ran a day school in Liverpool that included a class on mental and moral philosophy (from 1822); lectured on phrenology in Liverpool Lit & Phil Soc, 1828 and again in Nov 1834 on "Functions of the Brain with Strictures on Phrenology."
