, phys of Saville Row, London; MD Glasgow 1814; MRCP and M Roy Med-Chirg Soc; consulting phys Queen Charlotte Lying-in Hosp and to the Freemasons Asylum; med reformer, but wrote little; M LONDON PHREN SOC from 1820s and on its council, 1840; M PHREN ASSN; met GALL in Paris in 1810s and attended his lectures; "soon after his return from France he received a visit from Mr. Abernethy, who placed himself with his back to the wall, and plied him with questions for nearly two hours respecting phrenology, cranioscopy, and the various mysteries of the science," the basis of which figured in ABERNETHY'S lectures at the Roy College of Surgeons a few days later.
