surgeon-dentist, Hanover Sq, London; dentist to the Queen, and promoter of a tooth powder; son of an Edin clothier, and the brother of Robert Nasmyth (1792- 1870), surgeon-dentist; took up dentistry in 1822 and moved from Edin to London in 1825; MRCS 1831; med patient of J. CONOLLY and Sir James CLARK; M ETHNOL SOC and PHREN ASSN, 1842; died at Great Malvern. (Memoir, Dental Register of the West, 3 [July 1850] 166-76.)
