phys; classmate of Chs. BELL; first pres Paris Anthrop Soc , founded by SPURZHEIM; corresponded with G. COMBE and G. MACKENZIE; left £15,000 to the EDIN PHREN SOC which, due to foreign legal disputes involving R. VERITY, was never received; left directions in his will that his collection of skulls and his own skull be donated to the Boston Phren Soc, to "be placed forever by the side of the skull of his master [SPURZHEIM]."
