born in Belfast; went to sea as a purser, spending some time as a furniture warehouseman in New York, where he also acquired some experience in phrenology; returned to Britain to practice phrenology in Liverpool and later in Glasgow; with his wife Jessie, he became a consulting phrenologist, hypnotist and hygienic practitioner at Crosshill, Glasgow; M BR PHREN ASSN; spiritua list and wrote for The New Thought and Psychic Review (1912).
