Serjeant-at-Law; eldest son of William C. Cox, a manufacturer of Taunton; educated in that place and lectured there on phrenology in the Mechanics' Inst, 1834; called to the bar 1843; serjeant-at-law 1868; proprietor and conductor of the Law Times and various other legal journals; Conservative MP for Taunton 1868-9; wrote on politics and on spiritualism; life-long interest in phrenology and psychology; established and presided over the Psych Soc, 1875 to death.
