surgeon-accoucher, fellow Roy Jennerian Soc; M London Vet Med Soc; M Plinian Soc, and of Westminster Med Soc; associate of EPPS, pres and founder of the Verulam Phil Soc of London, 1834-7; designed a new system of warming dwelling houses; involved in organizing Brit Assn meetings; delivered lectures on phrenology, natural history, astronomy, etc. ("at a day's notice") in London and in the provinces 1820s-1830s; a Roman Catholic, he was sometimes accompanied at his lectures by an Irish priest, the Revd D. Delaney; had some kind of controlling interest in the weekly journal the Parthenon ; author of A Lecture, introductory to the Study of anatomy and physiology (1827).
