René Winkler is a researcher based in Edinburgh, Scotland. His main reserach interest are in the history of science, the history of museums and collections and in early modern intellectual history. His PhD research focused on the Scottish physican, geographer and natural historian Sir Robert Sibbald (1641-1722). He has since worked on projects with National Museums Scotland and the University of Edinburgh on early modern and nineteenth-century collecting and the history of science.
