MRIA, of Dublin; prof of practise of physic at Roy Col Surg, Ire, 1836-43; son of an army surgeon and the nephew of a well-known surgeon of the Clare Infirmary; MD Glasgow, 1832; at various times sec and pres of the DUBLIN PHREN SOC; corresp M LONDON PHREN SOC, 1826; VP PHREN ASSN, 1839-40; defended phrenology against attack by H. CARLILE at Br Assn meeting, Liverpool, 1837, where he delivered his "A Critical Analysis" paper; claimed a long acquaintance with phrenology in 1836 when he supplied G. COMBE with a testimonial.
