Preston Social Soc; devoted himself to working-class education and improvement in Halifax and lectured there on phrenology; upon his death HOLYOAKE noted in the REASONER that he "taught and lectured with a zeal and activity almost above his strength. His lectures on Phrenology will not soon be forgotten by those who heard them."
