MACARTNEY, James (1770-1843) lecturer on anatomy and physiology in Dublin; wrote on the comparative structure of the brain in chimpanzees, 1842, and on inflammation; confessed at the Br Assn meeting in Liverpool in 1837 that he had formerly been a follower of SPURZHEIM, but was now opposed to phrenology.
